Just Beginning

Actually, my start towards a career in massage began when I was fourteen years old (I am now 33). As a teen and a male, I got into weightlifting and sports and enjoying pushing myself to the limits, as men do. As I grew older I decided I wanted to be a personal trainer. For the past 7 years I've trained my clients ranging from teens to seniors. However, I felt that I wanted more. It was fun and exciting to help people reach their fitness goals but I had no idea what to do if they hurt themselves or were full of tension that traditional stretching could not erase. I started looking into different careers that would build off my experience. Since I am now a part time student I thought being an Athletic Trainer would be a great position to be in. I have been taking classes for the past year, but there was only one class that peaked my interest, the PNF class. By doing assistive stretching I got hands on experience helping my classmates reduce stress, reduce muscle tension, and building strength as well. Noting that I was pretty good with my hands when it came to being sensitive enough towards the "client" in class I took a new look at what massage is and does. I realized that soft tissue manipulation was the answer I was looking for. I am now currently taking classes towards sports massage and looking towards a bright future in a career I would love helping athletes and all active people reach their fitness goals in a different way. To me, this is a success!
