Jobs in Massage Therapy vs Massage Therapy Business
It seems like today, more people are looking for jobs in the massage profession. When I started out 17 years ago, jobs were far and few between. I was brought to this profession because of the freedom it would bring. I wanted to create my own life rather than slaving away working for someone else. Most jobs in the massage profession are low paying and entry level positions. Working in a spa in Las Vegas may make your more money than most jobs. Working at a job in the massage profession usually means long hours, limited or no benefits, low pay, working evenings and weekends and generally doing what someone else wants you do to. While there are a few jobs out there that pay well ($45.00 hour, full benefits) they are few and far between. Until you can find one of these you will most likely be working for $12-$15 per hour at a place like Massage Envy ( the new massage franchise) Finding a job in massage therapy can be a first step in learning about the massage business. A great massage employer will understand that a massage therapist is worth more than $10-$15 per hour because the employee is the key to building a successful business. They will also want to build a team or community of massage therapist employees who are willing to make the extra efforts to provide service to their clients. Allowing massage therapists to provide their input and resources will make for a much happier massage therapist. From what I have seen and heard, there are very few jobs that fit this profile. They are out there. If you can't find them, try creating one! This is the kind of massage therapy job I recommend looking for!Finding a job in the massage profession will require you to be creative and knowledgeable. You will need to be persistent and patient while you find or create the job of your dreams! You will need to be knowledgeable in business building skills and customer service skills. You will have to be motivated and have a passion for doing massage. The success of any business you work for will depend on your skills as a massage therapist and a business person. It is you who will get clients to keep coming in because of your great skill and kind heart. They will refer all of their friends and associates because of you! It is you who can really make or break the business. Read more about jobs in massage:
