Is there any demand for men in the massage Therapy field?

Hi,
I have been interested in Massage therapy for quite a while, however I was discouraged when somebody told me there is not as much demand for Men in the field. Is this notion true?

I know that clients who are men would prefer having a woman doing the massage, and that some women would feel uncomfortable having a man do the massage.

Is it hard for men to get work in this field?

Thank you for your time.

Not a Great Demand for Male Therapists
by: Sean

There's not a great demand for male massage therapists, at least as employees. Things are better working for yourself, but it can still be a struggle. Potential clients will often turn you down from the sole aspect that you are a man.

You can't take that personally. Those issues are about them, not you. You can prevail against these obstacles, but it takes work. And that's work beyond the usual work associated with a massage practice.

You'll need a modified marketing plan. Promoting trust, rather than services, will be your key to finding new clients.

Still interested? Come to the new website just for male massage therapists to disuss these issues.

men massage therapists

Yes it is tough for men since they aren't really used to being discriminated against.

Most massage therapists go on and start their own business for the most part.

There are many very successful men in the field and there is a need for male massage therapists.

If you are being discriminated against in hiring, you will need to learn to stand up for yourself.

It is hard not to fall into the victim mode.

I'm a male massage therapist and it is close to impossible for men to find a job. I was licensed in march of last year. I looked all over, had some interviews and none of them hired me. When I was regestering for these classes nothing was said that their are problems. When I had some classes finished was the first time I heard about this. I looked for months and didn't get hired. A friend of mine did it for a short time and now does something different. When I was calling places some of them even told me right away they want women therapists. I passed out tons of business cards and volunteered and didn't have any luck. Just forget about it. The school will take you just to get your money.
