Are there males in this feild?
by: Anonymous

I am a 33 years old male. I have been working in a family business for 17 yrs only because it has been convienant. This has led to problems an it is time for change. I would like to know if males are accepted in this career? I would like to think it is silly question what does gender have to do with it anyway? If you have info please comment thanks

A man's answer
by: Hans Albert Quistorff, LMP

Man or woman massage is for those that love the work. In our discussion groups some men are geeks that got tired of sitting in a cubicle writing code. They tend to be analytical and spot and solve problem patterns in their clients.
Observing practical exams at Massage School I have observed men that giving a massage was a dance for them. The client had a wonderful experience. I am sure they could go on to a great career in the spa or personal service type of massage.
I changed career at 55 because I could no longer do the heavy work in my maintenance business. I found employment wit a chiropractor and became Hans Albert Quistorff, LMP
Antalgic Posture Pain Specialist.

men in the massage profession
by: Anonymous

While men are the minority in the massage profession it does not mean that men should not choose a career in massage.

You don't really need strong hands. They will get strong as you do the massages and hand strengthening may be involved but for the most part massage is not done with your strength. If is is done with strength it often leads to bruising to the client which is not necessary.

There are many famous men in the profession. There is also an article on one of my other sites written by a male on men doing massage and the many responses to that article
