Fingerprint Services
When can I be fingerprinted?
Fingerprint Services are available:
Monday through Friday
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
We are closed between 12:00 and 1:00 p.m.
No fingerprinting is done on any weekends or City Holidays.
Fingerprint Location:
If you need to obtain fingerprints, bring your fingerprint card(s) to 705 S. Nevada Ave. during our scheduled fingerprinting time. Advise the person working at our front desk that you need to be fingerprinted. This person will ask you to print your name on a list. As soon as it is your turn to be fingerprinted, our employee who is fingerprinting will call your name.
Notice -- INS/USCIS Fingerprints: Effective October 1, 2004, the only facility where you can get your fingerprints taken in Colorado is at the Aurora facility. Here is the link to their web site with driving instructions, operating hours, etc. Colorado USCIS Fingerprint Information
Fingerprint Costs:
$15.00 per card
The CSPD accepts cash or checks for fingerprinting fees. We provide a receipt for the fees collected. Save this receipt. If the fingerprints we provide are not acceptable and you need to be fingerprinted again--we do not charge for re-prints if you produce the receipt indicating you were printed previously by a member of our department.
There are some individuals that have pre-paid fees that do not need to pay us directly. i.e. Massage and Liquor license applicants.
Fingerprint Appointments:
All of our fingerprinting is done on a first-come-first-serve basis. We are NOT able to make appointments for fingerprinting.
What you need to bring to get fingerprinted:
Bring a photo I.D. and your fingerprint card.
The CSPD does not provide fingerprint cards for job applicants. The person requesting you be fingerprinted should provide a print card for this purpose.
Exception: We have fingerprint cards for Immigration and Naturalization Service, and we are able to use these cards for individuals who can produce a letter from INS authorizing us to fingerprint them. (for citizenship, naturalization, green card, etc.) Applicants from INS also need to bring whatever photo I.D. that is required by INS--a photo I.D. such as a Passport or Drivers License or Alien Registration Card, Military I.D. card, etc.
We maintain fingerprint cards for Massage/Liquor applicants and Bond Recovery Agents. These individuals do not need to bring a print card.
Fingerprint Times:
How long it takes to be fingerprinted depends on the reason you need to be fingerprinted. We fingerprint individuals for job applications, security clearances, as well as individuals who are required by state law to be printed. The usual time it takes us to fingerprint for job applications is approximately 5-10 minutes.
It will take us longer to process individuals who are being printed for other reasons, as we need to gather information from these individuals, and there are many computer queries involved. Processing individuals for reasons other than a job could take us between 15-30 minutes per person.
Fingerprint Waiting Times:
Due to an ever-increasing demand for fingerprinting, we fingerprint on the average of 35-50 individuals each day. Because of this, there are usually quite a few people in our lobby at any given time, waiting to be fingerprinted. If there are 5 people signed up on the list when you arrive, you can expect to wait at least 5-10 minutes for each individual signed up--about 25-50 minutes. We fingerprint as quickly as possible, but we need to capture appropriate information on all individuals to ensure records are correct. We are also careful to get the best quality fingerprints possible.
Additionally, our policy requires us to fingerprint individuals who are officer-escorted immediately. This may cause a delay in your fingerprinting. We apologize for this delay, but we must get our officers in-and-out as quickly as possible so they can resume their patrol duties as required.
Note:
It is recommended that, if at all possible, you do not come in to sign up for fingerprinting within the last 1/2 hour before we close at noon, or before we close for the day at 5:00 p.m. There may be 4-5 people ahead of you, making it impossible to get everyone printed within that time frame.
