Changing Careers can be a challenging process. There are so many things to decide.

What career to choose?

How are you going to make the transition?

Why do you want to change careers?

What is in it for you?

There has been a recent surge in finding work that is meaningful. Jobs and careers used to be just that - a job. More and more people

are being drawn to work that is more fulfilling, doing something that you are passionate about.

You may not really need to change careers, but just look at what your are doing with different eyes. If you are an accountant, you may have become unaware of just what it is that you do - You keep everyone's books in order so they can sleep at night! (You may have forgotten what a blessing that is!)If you are building airplanes - you are a part of making flying safe and flying allows us to connect with the world really easily.

There are many ways to create meaning and to be of service other than changing careers, but if you just can't stand your current situation, changing careers may be the best solution.

There are so many who come to the massage profession looking to help others or find a career that is more rewarding. You will find this in the massage profession, but you will also be faced with other challenges.

If you are finding that you are burned out in your current work, I suggest looking at the reason for this as it is most likely to re-appear in the massage profession.

So if it is just meaning you are looking for, find your meaning first and then if you still want look into massage school and change careers.

A career in massage will definitely challenge you to find meaning in what you do. You will need to become aware of what beliefs you have and your self talk that keeps you stuck. Your ability to build a practice or hold a job and develop a business will depend on it.

Looking at why you help and what The Call to Help is about, you will be able to give without draining yourself and find a massage profession to be very rewarding. Learning to "be of Service" is what being a massage therapist is really about. Being of Service will be the key to a long, successful and rewarding career.

Changing Careers to become a massage therapist may not be the easiest choice, but it can be a rewarding choice.

One of my favorite books by Parker Palmer is called "Let your life Speak" He says "Before you tell your life what you intend to do with it, listen for what it intends to do with you. Before you tell your life what truths and values you have decided to live up to, let
your life tell you what truths you embody, what values you represent."

Finding out what you want to do involves listening to your true self which is often buried within you. One must first uncover that wholeness, to truly find work that you love. No job or career can really bring fulfillment. We already have that within us. It is just a matter of uncovering it and changing careers to meet that self.

"Find an occupation you
love and you will never have
to work a day in your life"
-Chinese Proverb
