Although there are a variety of health and beauty products available commercially, it’s entirely possible to make many of these products at home. Even better, they can be made using affordable household materials. Check out this list to learn about products you can make in your own kitchen.
Hair
These products will keep your hair shiny and healthy.
- Spray conditioner: Put your favorite hair conditioner in a fine mist spray bottle with water, and use as needed.
- Honey Lemon Hair Mask: Give your blonde highlights the boost and moisture needed with this great smelling hair mask.
- Hot oil treatment: You can use canola oil as a hot oil treatment, and it needs only to be heated up in a bowl of hot water.
- Honey hair conditioner: If you’re looking for a moisturizing hair conditioner, mix together 1/2 cup of honey and 1/4 cup of olive oil, them apply the mixture to your scalp and let it sit on your hair for 30 minutes.
- Bronze henna shampoo: Use this recipe with a hint of henna in your shampoo to give your dark hair a bronze or red tone.
- Hairspray: To create a natural hairspray, combine the juice of a citrus fruit like a lemon or orange with two cups of water in a saucepan, and simmer it until it boils. Strain it, then use on wet hair.
- Clarifying treatment: Add a bit of baking soda to shampoo about once a week to help clean the gunk out of your hair.
- Protein shampoo: This recipe uses eggs, gelatin, and other ingredients to strengthen your hair.

- Apple face mask: Use this apple face mask once a week, leaving it on for 15 minutes and rinsing it with water.
- Natural acid skin peel: Using pineapple, oatmeal, and olive oil, you can create a DIY skin peel that leaves you looking great.
- Honey face scrub: This scrub uses oatmeal, almonds, and lemon juice for exfoliation.
- Salt acne scrub: Banish breakouts by adding 1/2 teaspoon epsom salt into your cleansing cream.

- Moisturizing Body Oil: Combine pumpkin flesh, cucumber extract, and various oils to create a nightly moisturizer for your body.
- Salt skin smoother: Mix epsom salt with petroleum jelly and lavender essential oil to remove dead skin cells and reduce the appearance of cellulite.
- Coffee Clove Body Scrub: Mix coffee, clove, oil, peppermint, and other ingredients to create a wonderfully smelling scrub for your body.

- Honey cleansing scrub: Mix a teaspoon of honey, 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice, and 2 tablespoons of finely ground almonds to create a mixture that will moisturize, exfoliate, and condition your skin.
- Dry skin ointment: Boil down a cheap brand of vegetable shortening, add a few drops of essential oil, and allow it to solidify, then use it on lips, heels, elbows, knees, and other dry spots.
- Sugar scrub: Combine lemon juice, oil, and sugar to create a sugar scrub that will cleanse your skin and stimulate circulation.
- Body oil: Combine olive or soy oil with a scented oil after your shower.
- Salt scrub: Add essential oil to bulk salt and olive oil to create a cheap scrub and moisturizer.
Hygiene
Stay clean and healthy with these products.
- Hand sanitizer: Put together equal parts aloe vera gel and rubbing alcohol to make a quick hand sanitizer. You can even add your own scented oil if you’d like.
- Lavender deodorant: Infuse vodka with dried lavender and essential oils, then spray the mixture onto your skin with an atomizer for a great smelling, simple deodorant.
Makeup
